I hear the secrets that you keep...

Occasionally, Neil will awaken me in the night with a random bit of sleep-talking. These outbursts are often incomprehensible and sometimes creepy but almost always entertaining. He rarely remembers these exchanges which gives me a great opportunity to have a little fun. I'm really not even sure he hears my side of the conversation. At least, given last night's, I kind of hope not.

Setting: about 2am, we've both been in bed, asleep, for hours

Neil: (bolting upright) We can go dig in the back yard now!

Me: Are we looking for bodies?

Neil: What? ...no.

Me: Getting rid of bodies?

Neil: We'll have to do it in the morning.

Me: Dig in the back yard? To get rid of the bodies?

Neil: Yes.

Me: Okay. Bright and early.

Neil: zzzzzzz

Me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (except quietly so I wouldn't wake the baby across the hall because then our comedy would turn into a drama)

Needless to say, there was no digging in the back yard this morning. Nor were there any bodies. Or if there were, they were gone by the time I got up.

  3. Please make this a regular feature on Land of Bean...because there's not much funnier than a sleep-talking husband. Just this past week mine woke around 4 am to ask, "Can you pee for me?"

Say WHAAAAAAT? I can't even address this coherently.

Anyway, regale us with his nighttime funnies, please. I'm so serious.

  6. Hi there! I've been lurking around your blog ever since finding you through my friend MEP over at Not To Brag. This one made me feel the need to post. Just last night, when I was sleeping in the basement with both my children because of this intense storm, and my husband wasn't home. Just when I thought they were back to sleep, my son asked as clear as day "Mommy, do baby whales hatch from eggs?" I'm still not sure if he was awake or asleep. My husband is not a sleeptalker, just a jumper and yeller. He nearly frightens me out of my skin on a regular basis.

  8. That is so funny! My hubs does the same thing .. one night he even started an argument and then in the middle just turned over and said, "I'm going to sleep now."

He never remembers any of it in the morning, and it really gives me a great midnight giggle :o)

  12. OMG I was laughing so loud I'm surprised my dh didn't come running asking what was wrong. OMG that is soooooo funny.

My dh talked in his sleep once and told me to turn off the printer. I was like what?! The things they say! Better digging in the yard than muttering names of other women! ;)
