Flying Bean

For the seven of you that don't follow me on Twitter (and why aren't you?) or a Facebook friend, here's the result of a rainy afternoon, a new flash and a queen sized bed in the Land of Bean.

No Food Issues Here

Is that a quesadilla in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Monday Cuteness

Pay no attention to the pile of laundry as tall as a toddler. I do that on purpose so I can sort our clothes into blacks, whites, blues and reds. See. It's not about being lazy, it's about being meticulous about color separation.

Ladders

My daughter is not burdened with one single ounce of doubt. She sees a ladder and doesn't think "I wonder if I can climb that?" She thinks "I can't wait to get to the top!" Similarly, there are no strangers in her world, only friends whose names she doesn't know yet. She is bold and fearless.

I would give anything to be like her. To jump into any situation with absolute confidence. As much as her stunts sometimes scare me, and ohmygod do they, I pray this is something she doesn't outgrow.

Keep climbing, my sweet.

My sweet darling girl. I could bask in your smile, all day every day, and never get enough of it.

Farmer Soph

It took a crow bar to get her off that tractor. Is two too young to get her started mowing the yard? I mean, LOOK at that enthusiasm?! And with that sort of thing, you really have to strike while the iron is hot.

You Asked For It

I swear on all things good and tasty that yesterday's post was not meant to illicit compliments. Not that anyone accused me of such, but after all of your kind comments, I got to feeling like maybe I had inadvertently gone on a fishing expedition. That by talking about the lack of compliments in my world these days, I was in fact asking for them. Not the case. Yesterday.

Today, on the other hand, is a horse of a different color. Today, feel free to lay it on thick. This is more pictures than I have posted of myself in the last year, TOTAL, and I'm feeling a little exposed. So hyperbolic waxing on the vastness of my beauty and the sheer perfection that is my haircut are in no way discouraged.

The Tragedy of The Sippy Cup, A Haiku

If that had been me,
and a glass of wine instead,
there would have been tears.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

I look much like this when I am watching my stories. Only, you know, much bigger and more drool.

Random Cuteness

When I saved this photo, I titled it "Bowlhead." It sounds like an ethnic slur.

Edited to add: Yes, the girl has more toys than you can shake a stick at, but her FAVORITE is this bowl. (See picture <-- for more evidence.) She likes to pair it with my shoes or slippers. Just wait, next year bowls will be all the rage. She's a trendsetter, my little bean.

Just A Little Cuteness

Some people might think that having a girl was purely the luck of the draw. We had a 50/50 chance and this is how the coin fell. To them I say, ha, I had a girl on purpose. I needed a model for all the sweet little girl clothes!

Lucky for her, she has a beloved Auntie who brings her beautiful outfits back from India. And lucky for me, Sophie is a good sport about our little fashion shows.

Tuba-tuba-tubing

Going up the the hill. 20 minutes up and about 14 seconds coming down. Totally worth it! (To clarify, that's Neil and those are my feet. I'm laying/sitting on a tube of my own, being pulled up the hill by a tow line. Sorry I don't have any coming down pictures, but it's tough to hold a camera when you're screaming and holding on for dear life.)

Ennui

Sophie: You know, Mumsy*, as much as I enjoy pants-free time, and I really do, standing around naked in a cold, sterile doctor's office is just not my idea of a good time.

*I'm encouraging her to speak with a British accent. Because how cute are kids with British accents!
