I put her down in the living room to log some miles crawling on the hardwood floors, as opposed to the usual carpet. Supposedly this will inspire her to walk because the hard surface will be less comfortable for her. She is wearing shoes today, a rare occurrence, but she needs to get used to them because it will be tough getting service without them. I open the front door, so the light will come in to brighten up the room and then I leave her alone for a few minutes while I tinker in the kitchen. When I return, she is sitting like this.
Peaceful, she contemplates the outside world from this new vantage point. It seems it has only been a few weeks that she could get around so successfully and fewer still that she has been able to raise herself to a sitting position, yet here she is as though she had always been doing it. My little girl, finding her way, stretching the limits of her newfound independence.

So cute! She looks so contempletive sitting there. :-)
ReplyDeleteCuteness!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet picture!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a sweet display of her independence...I am loving this picture!
ReplyDeleteI got my daughter to walk by putting her down on the carpet in just her diaper. She didn't like rubbing her knees.
ReplyDeleteAlso, mylar balloons filled with helium. Perhaps she doesn't walk because she doesn't realize she can yet, although she is perfectly capable of doing so if she can block out the rest of the world and focus on something. Like a mylar balloon.
BPD - A mylar balloon, hmm, I'll have to try that.
ReplyDeleteMy Peanut JUST started walking (at 16 mos) ... and not a day too soon! A 25 lb baby is NOT a light load.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Once they get going, they just seem to take off! :)
ReplyDeleteMaternal Mirth - My girl is only 16 pounds and I struggle to carry her around for too long (see today's entry!). Good for Peanut!!
