Swing Bean

The swingset is finally done. It was mostly completed last week, but there were a few screws missing (story of my life), so we had to wait for them to be delivered before we could hang the last swing and do the finishing touches. Sophie loves it. She runs to the back door hollering like a madman (madgirl? madkid?) because she wants to go outside and SWING!

Of course, since we've had it up, its been hotter than the surface of the sun (not hyperbole), and on those rare days when it's not, the humidity is 99.9% (also not hyperbole), so it feels like a sauna. Which means that playing outside has not been as frequent as she might think optimal. Sorry, kid, mama can't take the heat. Autumn can not get here soon enough.

You can see where she is in this photo, yes? That's right, playing with the scrappy old boat sandbox we inherited from the neighbors that is currently moored on what I affectionately refer to as the "rock garden." That's the gravel that was under the deck for the above ground pool we removed LAST YEAR. Notice the black liner poking out, that's for ambiance.

Stay classy, Baltimore.

  1. Man, I bet you even the Obama girls would be jealous if they saw that. (the swingset shebang, not the rock garden).

  4. Some swingset!! That's really, really nice. If we'd had one like that my boys would STILL be home. Well, not really - that's a BIT of an exaggeration - I mean, after all, Alex IS married and our house is just a bit too small for that many people to have any privacy - well, anyway, you get my point - that's one nice swingset.

  5. She will go in stages.

For awhile, Elijah and Isabel were too "cool" for the playset. And now, all of a sudden, it has become the Laura Ingalls homestead for Isabel and her friends.

You'll get years of fun out of it, for sure!

  6. That is awesome!
And we all know she needs some kind of awesome to contain all that energy.
    Bet she sleeps well tonight!

  7. Oh man, she's going to go berzerk. It's awesome. But so is the blue boat thingy. It's really a toss-up. Glad you've succeeded in getting it installed and all that went with it. We are hopefully about ten days out.

  10. That's cool. A set came with the house and now you look out the window and weeds have overtaken the set. LOL!... I'm gonna clean it all up before the summer is over.

  15. I love the swing set!! I need someone to come and take ours to a house where it will be loved.

Oh, and the teeter-totter part? We had one of those on ours. But when you put 4 kids on it...who then twist it around, and then ride their way into dizziness...it will break.

  17. If we start driving super early on Saturday, I think we can make it in time for Bub to get a few swings in Saturday evening. Can you have a cold Dr. Pepper waiting for me?

Seriously, when the weather improves, that playset is going to prove the best decision you ever made.

Love, love, love the picture of Sophie swinging!

  19. I am sooooo not a heat person too. We have parks here with no covering and the slides are about 1000 degrees. You slide down one of those and it takes your skin off
