Now

I have found that, like so many things, my interest in blogging waxes and wanes. In nearly three years I have published more than 500 posts. Every time I approached one of the century marks, I have thought I should make a fuss about it, but each time I forget until it's too late. I look and realize that I'm at 407. And really, who cares how many posts I've put up. Does it make me a more accomplished writer or blogger for the number of times I have managed to hit the publish button? Do the 100 or so people who visit here each day, most of whom are likely family, even care? Having said that, my relative absence from blogging lately has left me feeling stranded. Missing out on my friends lives and missing out on writing, something I truly enjoy doing. I want, no I need, to get back in to it.

____________

I am restarting Operation Smaller Ass. I lost 20 pounds earlier this year and then proceeded to gain most of it back over the following 8 months and that's total bullshit. I work out like a fiend, I NEED something to show for it. I've considered all of the easy routes: pills, hypnotism, chaining the fridge; and have decided to just get back with counting calories. I had success with it before, and early results are good. Five pounds in the last week. How many times do I say "this time I'm serious" before I really do GET SERIOUS?

____________

I'm considering doing NaNoWriMo. I have a story. And a pretty good one, if I do say so myself. I've been fleshing it out in my head for a while now, so it's just a matter of buckling down and bringing it to life. Will having a month deadline make it happen? I don't know, but it can't hurt trying. Neil's always asking me when I'm going to write my novel. Maybe now is the time.

____________

Maybe now is the time for a lot of things.

  1. Yay for you! I miss reading your posts. You are such a talented writer, Cara...

I love the idea of "Operation Smaller Ass". Think I'll hop on the OSA bandwagon with you, if you don't mind.

Good luck with the writing. I've never heard of that site; I'll check it out.

  3. I often say why do something today when it can wait until tomorrow, but I think you're right--now is the best time for a lot of things. Good luck!

  4. Now is good. Real good. Later is not as good. It's still good, unless, of course, later never comes. Then later is bad. Very bad. But NOW? Now is good.

Let me know when you figure out the answer to this question. I've asked it myself many a time!

I hear you on the waxing/waning of blogging. Trying to get my blogging mojo back. Want to do the 30 Days of Truth with me?

  6. You are a phenomenal writer, and I can't wait to see what you come up with. And I'll be joining Operation Smaller Ass as soon as this kid exits my uterus. You're going to kick ass at both writing and Operation Smaller Ass, because you're just that badass. That was a lot of asses in one sentence, right? Who am I kidding? There can NEVER be too much ass in a sentence.

And for the record, I have been wondering when you were going to get back into blogging. ;)

  8. Please write more, I enjoy it so! And yes, a novel would be nice. And I am always around to bounce ideas off for any stories you have in your head.

  10. Operation Smaller Ass is the best title for a diet that I have ever heard.

My mother asked me how many people actually read my blog and I have no clue...I don't do it for other people, but I sure like when they notice me!

  12. I need operation lose the muffin top. Or better yet, I need operation find the store that sells the best tanktop to hide the muffin top.

    Can you tell I'm lazy?

Rock on sister. I agree - you do need to post more. Or better yet, I need to chat with you more online. :)

  13. Man, I miss you.

We are on the same wavelength (except that I don't have a novel in me). I can't find time/energy to blog or even comment on my faves in a timely fashion and thus feel disconnected. I am eating like it's my job and need Operation Smaller Thigh.

I've been planning on doing NaBloPoMo again this November to get me back on my feet.

  14. Awesome on the book! I'll actually be making an important announcement soon, lol.

I think a lot of peoples blogging interest has diminished in the last month or so. I know I used to post a lot, and I'm down to maybe 3 times a week. And I have to eek those out. Same for people reading I think. I think it's too pretty outside to blog, lol.

Can't wait to hear about your new ass (LOL) campaign...that was pretty funny when I read it.

  15. I've been noticing a lack of interest generally on the blogging front. I can't find time with two hands to actually post, but wander aimlessly around the blogosphere, hoping for some sort of new something from the world outside. I miss hearing from you! And someday, I'll have two hands free and will be able to post again to return the favor (yeah, and I'll get some sleep, too! HA!).

  16. I go back and forth with blogging, too. I finally just had to start treating it as the only person I was obliged to was me - it took a lot of the pressure off.

I want to join Operation Smaller Ass! I have 10 pounds that I lost when I busted my jaw, kept off all summer but are creeping back on now that winter is coming. I like to call it my hibernation fat, but that doesn't make it any more appealing.

    Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

  17. I'm doing NaNo and you should, too! If you do, make sure to add me as a buddy, "Ronnica."

  20. Awesome! I did NaNoWriMo before kids. It's a lot of work, but also fun and will really get you going. Good luck!

  21. I hate to be the bad person but OSA has to be put on hold for #PA2orbust. Sorry, but it's true. Eat well this week so that you don't feel guilty!

  22. I've been waning lately on my personal blog. I just put up our Halloween adventures. It felt good to get something new on the front page.

Sometimes I feel like it's not even worth it. Ugh!

    Good luck with your endeavors!

  23. Did you bite the NaNoWriMo bullet? Its been slow going for me but I like that it finally got me writing.
