Land of Monkey Just Doesn't Have The Same Ring

The epizooties* have struck our house again. Not me or Neil this time, but our poor little Bean. She has been running a low grade fever and had a drippy nose for the last day and a half or so. As a consequence, she was a real pill yesterday. She wanted to be held. All. Day. I couldn't sit down, because she would start crying. And believe you, me, there was A LOT of crying. She wouldn't lay down, with or without me. So I spent the lion's share of the day walking around with her on my hip. She wraps her legs and arms around me so tight. It would be cute, if it weren't so frustrating.

I'm considering changing her nickname to Monkey. Between the climbing ...everything, and the clinging to me, it is more appropriate these days than Bean.

Anyhoo, we were up four times last night, so I got a total of about three hours of sleep. Please forgive if this is not my most coherent of posts. One saving grace. Last night was my monthly girl's night dinner and while I contemplated bailing to care for my sick child, by the end of the day, there was nothing I needed more than a couple of hours with NO BABY. I think that is the only thing that is saving me right now from going completely boinkity bonkers.

Keep your fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed that she takes a decent nap.

*An undefined illness characterized by it's capacity to ruin the day of everyone in the house.

  1. Sooner or later she will crash. It's so hard when they are sick and they can't really communicate what's wrong.
I hope you get some serious rest soon. I'll pray for you....:)

  2. I totally get bailing on baby. I am all about the mom's night out. Or even just a night for me. Parked and drinking diet coke, reading a book at the sonic :-)

  3. Yikes! I hope she feels better today, poor little darling! It cannot be easy on you, either... make sure to give her Advil... that should help her relax and even hopefully fall asleep.

  4. Aww. Poor baby. At least if she can fall asleep it is really peaceful and sweet to have her in your arms.

Hopefully it is just a 24 hour bug:(

  5. you know what my son got sick again - as soon as his meds ran out -we were back to the dr again!

hope you feel better around there soon - well your little one anyway

  6. My daughter is good about wrapping her legs around me when I hold her on my hip. My son? Just now figured it out. And it's really not even helpful when he does it. He used to just hang there legs dangling down, so I guess it's progress.

Hope she feels better soon and you can get some rest!

  7. I feel your pain. I hope this passes quickly and you both get a good nap.

  8. Bum Bum Bummer. I am so sorry to hear she is sick...for you and for her. :(

I had major issues with the movie version of Twilight too. This one may shape up to be a good one though. At least it has Rob half nekid. That's a plus.

  9. That sooooo sucks. Too bad they say not to give them cold meds anymore. 15 yrs ago it did the trick. :)

  10. Ugh... I'm sorry.

I was hoping to have a nice quiet non-kid weekend but my ex has arse cysts so that's the end of that.

  11. Did she sleep better? Is she feeling better? Are YOU feeling better?

Last night Caroline woke up calling for Scott..."Daddy...Daddy...DADDY!"

I loved it. Seriously...loved was all I could do to roll over and force the words, through the haze of sleep, "Your child wants you...and not you have to go..."

Again...I loved it. And all she wanted was for him to take her potty. Awesome. Meanwhile, I slept. Good times.

  12. Oh geez. Poor thing, and poor you!

I'm sending some sleepy nap vibes your way.

    Could it be molars?

Give me some sugar, baby!
