My Child, The Artist

Sophie has gotten the coloring bug lately. There are more than a few creative types in my family, so I am not at all surprised that she might gravitate towards the arts. I had been trying to find those really big crayons for little hands, but these largish triangular ones were all I have been able to track down. She's really starting to get the hang of it.

Obviously, I drew the face there. But look at the mighty fine beard she added! I'm seeing dollar signs.

  2. She looks so excited! Isn't it fun to reach the crayon stage?!

Speaking of dollar signs, there's a cool documentary called, My Kid Could Paint That. Worth watching.

  3. My daughter is a nut for art projects, crayons paints, chalk, anything she can get her hands on. I have a hoodie that has the requisite drawstring and she always picks up the string and pretends to "draw" with the "drawstring." Because what else do you do with a drawstring?

  8. How sweet! My daughter got the artist bug at about 18 months of age. I would say to her, "Look! You are being a little artist!" By 20 months she would say, "Look, mommy! I am being an artist!" Yes, she really did talk that way...totally like a little adult. Now, four years later, she is still creating things I could never come up with.... Artist indeed!

You will soon have your entire refrigerator and all your walls covered with her "artwork"!

  10. Whatever, she totally drew that face, you just don't want us to discover her genius until you get a book deal. Love the look on her face!
