Easy Rider

I have officially graduated from BRU. That's Babies R Us for the unitiated. While I poke my head in from time to time, the days of weekly visits have passed. Now it's T(oys)RU. Sophie hasn't yet learned how to beg for toys, however her mother is a little less restrained when it comes to deciding her daughter should have something. I see something on TV or at a friend's house and she MUST have it. I swear it's not about keeping up with the Joneses so much as keeping the girl occupied. If it works for someone else, it could work for us.

This past weekend I decided it was time to look into an outdoor wheeled vehicle for the Bean. Whenever we go to the park, she always gravitates towards the trikes, big wheels and scooters that the older kids leave laying around. So we bundled into the family wagon and set off for TRU. When we arrived in the bike/trike section, Sophie practically jumped out of the cart in her excitement. She ran right over to this pink Radio Flyer, dragged it off the shelf and jumped onto it. We had a match.

Now she loves going outside to hop on her new ride. She can't reach the pedals well enough to move herself yet, but she loves being pushed around on it. I am sure it won't be long before she can propel herself.

I swear just yesterday she was a tiny bundle in my arms, where did this KID come from?

  1. Those are the best! Summer got a Dora Big Wheel for her 2nd Bday and although she can not reach the wheels either, she rides it ALL the time, and pushes it with her feet.

    Ride On Sophie!

  2. Indulgence-smulgence...lol. All these cool things develop hand-eye coordination, muscle development, and so much more. And her face says it all. Wait til you have to buy a new bike every year because she outgrows it. lol

  3. We have a nasty old beat up tricycle that a friend gave us that my daughter loves. She can't figure out the pedals but she doesn't care. She still loves it.

  6. Caroline can pedal her little trike...but she refuses. Instead, her feet do the propelling.

    Good times.

Go, go, go, Sophie! Enjoy this fantastic weather. We all need to get outside and ride. Or sit while the kids ride.

  8. Just so you know, they just keep insisting on growing. No matter how much you beg and plead, they go from baby to toddler, toddler to kid, kid to tween, tween to teen... It's just NOT fair.

  9. A whole new world opens up for you when you have a baby (at least a whole new section in Giant). And then you blink, and it's gone. And you don't need to go to that aisle in Giant, because it's all baby stuff.

  17. TRU rocks! The Bean will be racing down the sidewalk on her own before you know it. Does she have a helmet? They make mighty ones if you're looking for another reason to get to TRU or Target.
