Random Thoughts Thursday

I have all kinds of things to write about, but I just don't have the time to put together a coherent post right now. I've got a kid who is as high maintenance as they come. Or so say the ladies at the gym daycare. I've seen the other kids that go in there, and trust me when I say, this is no small accomplishment. There are some whiny, needy kids in there. So, since my daughter is requiring constant vigilance, we'll just have to settle for some random thoughts...

I am a much happier person when I get a decent night's sleep. I'm not even asking for eight hours. I just need more than four. How do I explain this to my daughter?

The fact that Sophie can now scale just about any item of furniture and the baby gates is very frustrating.

Sophie drank the remnants of Tide in the measuring cup yesterday after letting herself into the laundry room. I didn't think she could open doors yet. Crap.

I can't decide if I want to grow my hair out a little or keep it short. I like it short, but I get hair envy whenever I see someone with a cute longer haircut.

Last night's season finale of LOST was all kinds of awesome. I hate that we now have to wait EIGHT MONTHS for the show to come back.

I just finished the Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. Loved it.

I made Chicken Paprikash for dinner tonight, recipe courtesy of Cooking Light, and I said "waiter, there's too much pepper in my paprikash" about a thousand times.

I have a bit of a crush on Nathan Fillion. I loved him in Firefly. Loved. Him. I hope they don't cancel Castle.

I bought an exercise skirt to wear to the gym. I'll probably never actually wear it. What was I thinking?

Our cat, Gomez, purrs so loudly, I can hear him from across the room. It makes me happy.

  1. Oh Man! On many occasions have I thought to myself "Thank Goodness Summer does NOT know how to open door knobs!" You are in trouble now girl!

I have had my hair short for like 6 years now, and I am determined to grow it out. I love it short, and have had it really long, but it has been years. I. AM. GOING. TO. DO. IT.
It is so hard not to give in and get it all cut off!

Wear the skirt!~!! Oh please! Those things are sooooo cute!

  2. I totally agree with you about the hearcut. Right now my hair is like halfway down my back, and all I want to do is chop it off, but then I flip flop and think you know, it'll take so long to grow out again... then again, I never do anything with it other than throw it up in a ponytail...

Also, you're going to BlogHer? JEALOUS!

Lost was amaaaazing. I'm going to watch it again tomorrow to see if I missed anything else. Eight months is a brutally long wait.

Nathan Fillion is pretty amazing... I love him in Castle even more than I loved him in Firefly, and that's saying something. You have good taste!

  3. Again, we are living semi-parallel lives. Both my boys are climber/scalers. I came thisclose to buying an exercise skirt today. I too am rethinking my short hair and actually wondered if I should try to go a little shorter next time in order to transition closer to an all-one-length growing out style. I too quote When Harry Met Sally.

    Hang in there!

  4. I *can't* do exercise skirts. I look like an idiot. Because I have the chickeniest chicken bawk-bawk legs EVER.

  7. "...but I will proudly partake of your pecan piiiiiiieeeeee!"

  8. My hubby met me when I had short hair. He still prefers it that way. I think short hair is SEXY. Plus, you gotta have a lot of confidence to pull it off! Keep it short!!

I can't tell you how many times I have caught my little one tipping the detergent measuring cup into his mouth. Ick.

  10. I am the same way. I really need my sleep or else I'm a mess. I wish someone could explain that to my daughter, too!

You should totally rock the exercise skirt at the gym!

  15. LOVE the random thoughts!! Also, just when you think they can't do something, they prove you WRONG!! Gotta love these kids of ours!!

I don't watch LOST, but I do Grey's and I felt the same way you did...great finale but why do I have to wait so long to found out what is going to happen!!

  16. I've never understood how they can have so much energy also on approximately 4 hours sleep.

Stay short. I also get long hair envy, but, it's so nice to only have to run a comb through it and call it a day.

Was it the Costco skort? I went back today to pick up some more. Never been my thing, but boy is it easy!

She will begin to wear herself out at some point. I promise there will come a night where you will sleep the whole night through. Promise.

  17. Since Sophie is an expert climber, I'm wondering if you've done any bolting of furniture to the walls. We haven't at all, and now out come all these reports about TVS falling on children's heads and I can't figure out if we should have/should be taking action or if we just try to keep up the constant vigiliance...

  18. Loved this random post! Um, I would have totally freaked out if my child drank the Tide. What did you do? Was it a lot? Were you totally worried? I think I tend to over-worry everthing...
