Cover Yourself, Madame!

This afternoon, as I was getting out of the shower, Sophie came running into the bathroom. Not unusual. We have started a routine where she comes in and hands me my towel as I am climbing out of the tub. It's nice to have a little valet. Most days, she goes back to the towel bar and mimics drying her face just as I do it.

However today, after handing me my towel, she just stood there watching me. Then, she pointed at my chest and said, quite clearly,"boobies!" There was a time when I was worried that boobie would be one of her first words. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. It is not a word I say all that often these days, though, so I'm a little surprised that this is one she would have picked up on.

As I finished drying off, she climbed up on the toilet and grabbed the bra I had brought in and handed it to me. I put everything in place and did the clasps, she smiled and said to me "good girl!"

I know the ladies aren't everything they used to be, but when even my two year old daughter is congratulating me for covering them up, I think it's time to consider a tune-up.

  1. ROFLMAO!!!
OK but how would it be if your 7 yr old boy comes busting in the bathroom as you get out of the shower and just STARES at them!! Reminds me of his father!

  2. I think they just love the bras at this age:)

Summer is forever finding mine and putting it on.

It's like Maddonna walking around with the cones, Lol!

  3. What does a touch up involve? After this next baby, I'm pretty sure my boobs are going to be my waist. Something may need to be done beyond securing good bras.

  4. A touch up? Hmmmm. Have hubby touch 'em while your standing up. It will save you bundles....just sayin'.

  5. Nah, wait til you are sure you all done having babies, otherwise it's just a waste of money.

Besides, that's why they make good bras, like the Wonderbra or victoria's secret...

Much cheaper, and no chance of surgical complications.

  6. Maybe she was just so impressed that you got it on...those things look awfully confusing if you don't know what you're doing!

  7. Oh my! That Sophie is one hilarious little girl. Think of it this way -- it's better than having a son talking about your boobies. My sister's oldest son was a big fan of his mommy's "mimis" for a long time, and he wasn't shy about it either. :)

  8. Corinne drew a picture of me and her holding hands.

    "Wait a minute!" she said.
    "I forgot something!"

She grabbed a purple crayon and proceeded to draw 2 very small circles on my chest.

    "You needed your bra."

Oh, how I wish her size perception were off...

  10. This made me laugh. Funny thing is, Christopher had a similar reaction this morning as I toweled off. He likes to point to them and say "boobies", and sometimes he wants to touch them. May sound weird to others, but I find it all so innocent. But I found myself wondering this morning, "when do I start covering up in front of him?" Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...

  11. Not sure what a "tune-up" is, but i can tell you this, I am VERY seriously considering a breast lift and tummy tuck.

I was in pretty good shape until I had the my last baby and found out the hard way that 40 year old skin does not bounce back like 30 year old skin does. I can hardly stand to look in the mirror. :( The destruction is so sad.

I'll keep you posted on if I go through with it or not and how it all turns out. Scary when you really think about it.

True that you should wait until all done having kids or it is just a waste.

  12. My youngest is most obsessed with bras. Mainly mine. But she likes to wear them too. Not that she has anything to wrastle with...

  13. Prepare yourself. Soon enough, she will learn the words for other parts and then talk about them non stop. For example, on Thursday, we called my mom to sing her happy birthday. Afterwards, my kids entertained themselves for ages, singing the birthday song to various body parts. "Happy Birthday, Dear Bu-utt...Happy Birthday to you!" I can't even do yoga around them anymore, because in certan poses they are always commenting, "Hey mom, there's your butt!"

  14. Hannah and Michaela have a few bras... just the ones that are basically all elastic. I'm waiting to see if they've inherited their hooters from my side of the family. 'Cause if they have, I feel for 'em.

  17. Oh my gosh... soooo funny... and so cute, too! My boys will tell me to put my hair in a ponytail if they don't like it, and they make me change my clothes if they don't like what I'm wearing. For real. My baby goes: "Blech." and points to my shirt. And I actually go CHANGE. I'm nuts like that. ;)

  19. You think we could get a discount if we went at the same time? I could use a little "lift" myself.

  20. My son is almost 3 months old, and has not breastfed since he was 3 weeks old due to lactose intolerance.

That does not stop him from grabbing eeeeeveryone's boobs. Nor does it stop him from wetting the shirt (right on the nipple!) of every female who dares to hold him. *siiiigh*
