I love my daughter, I really, really do, but some times (days, weeks), she drives me a little bit crazy. She has begun with the wriggling. Wriggling when I change her diaper, wriggling when I change her clothes, wriggling when I try to feed her (Not boobie, real stuff. Well sort of real, today it was baby food pasta dinner, and despite being pretty awful she ate it up. Figure it out.), wriggling when I give her a bath, wriggling when I try to sit with her on my lap, wriggling, wriggling, wriggling. I give her toys to occupy her during diaper changes so that I don't have to keep flipping her back over, but that only works for a matter of seconds and although I'm fast, I'm not that fast. During her bath last night, I couldn't keep her sitting down, despite my pulling her back to a seated position approximately every 3 seconds. Wrangling a slippery wet kid is not fun and also a little bit scary. I need to get those spongy things to go on the faucet so she doesn't bang her head...again. Frustration, thy name is Cara.
How long does this last? Because this part? I do not enjoy.

Oh the wiggly, wriggly, nope you can't keep me here's! I once spent a good three minutes trying to put a diaper on my oldest .. my youngest is still doing it and she's almost 15 months old. Hopefully you have a cooperative little bean and she'll eventually see it your way :o) If your girl is headstrong like mine .. well, you could be in for wriggles for a while. I hate it when they stand in the tub! Nerve-wracking!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! It is so great meeting interesting people :o) I'm loving it! So, thanks for introducing yourself!
Oh how I remember those days! She has so much to be doing and learning that she doesn't have a lot of time for all that other stuff!! I would just try to talk and be silly and try to keep her attention while I was getting the job done. Most of them do grow out of it though!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think we're past that stage with Mady (which lasted about a month)...but I don't want to jinx us. She has her moments for sure.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing worse than the twists and turns with a diaper full of poopy. Oye!
you might want to get a few special things, like a toy, that she only gets when you're doing the activities where she's wriggling the most....it's all about the art of distraction!!
ReplyDeleteARRRGG just posted and it failed!! hate that But just wanted to say this is just the begining of the wiggles it get worse until they relize things go faster when they don't wiggle and Liam is just getting that! Just wait till they go to grab there bum and it's Poo!! LOL great fun times!
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile but as I remember, this is just the beginning and once they've learned to move, they are on the move. First wiggles, then slithering to crawling to standing and then walking. Then when they walk you run just to keep up. Have fun...
ReplyDeleteYep, yep and yep to all the above!!! It is only the beginning! What a cute wriggler though!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to say, they just keep wiggling only as they get older, they just get faster.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind comments yesterday about my cat. They meant so much. yesterday was really hard.
ReplyDeleteAs for the wrigglies. I can empathize but that was a LONG time ago so I'm probably not much help.
I am not sure if the wriggling ever stops. Come to think of it, I am still a wriggler myself! :)
ReplyDeleteHang in there ~ it gets better (or do we just get used to it?)!
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely stage!! I guess she's just trying to show a little independence and let you know she wants to run the show?!
ReplyDeleteAre we being honest here, or are we supposed to tell you the truth?
ReplyDeleteFrustration, thy name is Leigh Anne...less than 6 weeks 'til Caroline's 3rd birthday and she's still wriggling...running away, forcing me to chase her.
At least they're cute while doing it!
09/17/08 - stop on by; I have a little somethin, somethin for ya!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if it ever stops!!:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like an evening at Casa de LC!
ReplyDeleteGood news.
It *DOES* stop.
It stops when they move out ...
