Ennui

Sophie: You know, Mumsy*, as much as I enjoy pants-free time, and I really do, standing around naked in a cold, sterile doctor's office is just not my idea of a good time.

*I'm encouraging her to speak with a British accent. Because how cute are kids with British accents!

  1. So cute. Yeah, she doesn't look too thrilled.

    Brilliant with the accent ;)

  2. Isn't it always pathetic? And the nurses just aren't sympathetic enough to "allow" them to keep a onesie on until the doctor comes in.

  3. Yeah, I love how 'family friendly' they are, scheduling 5 people for every 15 min time slot and when you finally get in the room, strip down...you're expected to wait another 30 minutes.
    Arghhhhhhhhhh

  5. Our pediatrican is actually really good about not letting us wait for eternity. The nurses don't call us in until they are ready to weigh Mady and all of the weighting/measuring is done immediately so the kids can put their clothes back on.

  6. You said "ennui."

I heart you. I heart that word. I heart Sophie.

    Oh, but yes...

  7. That is by far the worst time, isn't it?

I used to wonder WTF took the damn doctor 30+ minutes to get his keister in to see me or my kids ... then I spent a summer with my cousin, A DOCTOR. Did you know Dr's have to log, like, every single detail onto a transcription and put it into your file?

Well, at least my cousin does.

  9. Yes, ennui is a great word...as for the British accent, ever since we took our girls to London & Paris last year I've been trying to convince them to learn French & they've adopted the accent all on their own--it's hysterical!

  10. Peanut butter and jelly boats (a blogging friend) has a son who did an entire recitation of Charlie and Lola in a perfect British accent at about age 3 or 4. You have GOT to watch it. I laugh whenever I do!

  11. Love this british accent idea, so cute. Just tell her that at least she is standing and not in stir-ups, legs in the air.

  12. That's awful. At least we get those flimsy little sheets.
