A lifetime ago Sophie pulled herself up to standing for the first time. In reality, it was probably about six months, but with each new development, I forget what life was like before. Since then, she has been cruising* with increasing agility. Day by day, she has gotten stronger and more confident in her ability to move around on her own two feet. Although it took her months to get to a place where she would let go of the sofa or coffee table and take that one giant step for babykind, it took her the space of a weekend to go from a few tentative independent steps to a walking machine.
Behold!
Pay no attention to the giant bruise on her forehead, a casualty of her newfound skills.
*This is where babies walk along holding on to things: furniture, people, walls; it's known as cruising in the parent hood.
**Look at the fish in the upper right hand corner. It watches her walk by the tank. Wild, huh?

you are in trouble now...let the destruction begin :)
ReplyDeleteSara is so right! Now her hands are free...nothing is safe!! Congrats! You officially have a toddler!
ReplyDeleteShe's well on her way!! I love the proud expression on her face--and the Rocky music too!
ReplyDeleteYou just gotta love those first few wobbles and when they realize what they can do, its priceless and yes entails a lot more bruises.
ReplyDeleteThere is no turning back now! She is barelling into Toddlerhood.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so sad to leave their babyness behind...good thing we are too filled with pride and excitement for the future to notice!
That was adorable! Great edit with the Rocky music! lol! What a fun post, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete(boy, you will be getting a lot of exercise from here on out! lol!)
Absolutely hysterical! I was laughing so loud at the video. Congrats Sophie, lookout Mom!
ReplyDeleteYAY Sophie! your world will never be the same~
ReplyDeleteOh, totally cute! I remember how exciting it is to see them learn all these new skills! And SCARY! I used to wince every time one of my kids would fall, but I guess it comes with the territory. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww! I miss those wobbly days. My son was taking his first wobbly steps at about a year old but he really didn't take to walking until 14 months. It's hard to believe it's just been 9 months and now he's running. I'm having to chug it to catch up to him!
ReplyDeleteYou're in for it now!!
Oh, yay for Sophie!
ReplyDeleteAxel has been doing a few steps - not quite as gracefully as Sophie, though - but he just won't let me film them. Camera comes out, and he drops to his knees and crawls over to eat the camera. Arrrgggh
That's great!!!! I like the walking thing. It makes life infinitely more fun. And another thing, it's like once they start walking, their little brains jump ahead. I guess it's from the new perspective of being a biped.
ReplyDeleteI just totally drowned in a puddle of cute. The Rocky theme had me crack'in up ... good work, ma!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! Watch out, everything is up for grabs!! She looks so cute and proud of her accomplishment! Another great milestone completed, but now she is becoming a toddler and no longer your baby!
ReplyDeleteYou now officially have a toddler on your hands!! Way to go, Sophie!
ReplyDeleteI love the video! She is doing great. My son has that lion walker and still plays with it.
ReplyDeleteGreat song!!
ReplyDeleteLove that she is in her hoody zip up in the last frame (very Rocky) . . . is that drool or sweat?
ReplyDeleteLOL at your video! So cute. Way to go, Beans!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAw...she's such a big girl. It makes me wistful.
That video is so cute!!! And I had to go back and watch the fish action...you're right, that is strange!!
ReplyDeleteHoly heck, she is just adorrrable :] She looks so proud of herself for stomping around, too!
ReplyDeletePS: The fish is awesome.
Awesome! Now you just need to fear the skill of climbing!
